Begoña Gómez to Attend G-20 Summit in Brazil

Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Spanish Prime Minister, will attend the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19. She has notified the court regarding her inability to appear in a separate legal matter due to this official visit. Her participation is expected to focus on discussions for a fairer and more sustainable future.

The wife of the Prime Minister, Begoña Gómez, has informed the judge investigating her for possible crimes of misappropriation and professional intrusion related to the use of software from the Complutense University of Madrid that she will not be present next Monday to receive the notification of the complaint.

Her lawyer has informed the judge that Gómez was aware of the complaint due to the documentation provided by the court, so it was not necessary for her to attend personally at Plaza de Castilla. In a previous appointment, the notification had already been made at her residence.

In the communication, it is highlighted that Gómez had scheduled an official visit to Brazil to participate in the G-20 World Summit, where she is an official invitee. The First Lady of Brazil had extended a personal invitation to her to attend a meeting where matters of common interest would be discussed.

The notification of the complaint was postponed due to Gómez's official visit to Brazil, where she would attend the G-20 Leaders' Summit. Her lawyer assured the judge that Gómez's defense was guaranteed and that there was no need for a new summons.

The complaint in question originated from a report by HazteOír, which accused Begoña Gómez of influence peddling, corruption among individuals, misappropriation, and professional intrusion in relation to software used in the chair she directed at the Complutense University of Madrid.

The G-20 Summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on November 18 and 19, and Pedro Sánchez will attend as a representative of Spain at this gathering of world leaders. Additionally, a parallel agenda has been organized for the companions of the invited heads of state.
